- Her fans own Harry Potter? Uhh, no they don't. Written in the front of all novels published you will find a note telling you that the author reserves the right to be acknowledged as the sole author of that work.

- That Simpsons example is a bad one - it was a spoof, but that doesn't stop the work being original because it's a variant on a theme and not a straight theft.

- Spelly - you may only just have heard this claim of JKR's, but I can point you at hundreds of thousands of internet based Potter fans who have heard her discuss the possibility numerous times and long before this issue hit.

- Well if she was afraid of showing herself up then why would she ever so much as say "well possibly I might one day?" Why would she ever raise the idea that she would do it if she was afraid of it going into that format? Why would she allow other criticial works to go onto the market unchallenged? …

- It's not crazy to want to protect something you spent 17 years sweating over. They are her books and her words and she has a right to defend that.
